Remote LDAP directory access

Hi,

I’ve set up directory assistance and want to query a remote Oracle, LDAP

directory on port 4032. My DA config for this remote dir is shown below.

From the documentation this should all be pretty simple.

However, when I do a “sh xdir”, I get:

DomainName DirectoryType ClientProtocol Replica/LDAP Server

1 XXXX Primary-Notes Notes & LDAP names.nsf

Directory Assistance Database ‘da.nsf’ in use

My Questions are:

  1. Why do I get the “da.nsf in use” message?

  2. Is there something wrong with my config’s?

  3. Am I missing a line from the “sh xdir” output, which relates to the remote LDAP dir?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

System OS: Win2000

Domino Version R6.0.1

Config as follows -

BASICS:

Search Order: 2

Make available to: Notes Clients & Internet Authentication/ Authorization; LDAP Clients

Group Authorisation: yes

Nested group expansion: yes

Enable: yes

NAMING CONTEXTS (RULES):

All “*” plus Enabled and Trusted for Credentials give “yes”

LDAP:

Hostname: test.domain.com:4032

Optional Authentication Credential:

Base DN for search:

Channel encryption: SSL

Port: 636

Accept expired SSL certificates: yes

SSL protocol version: Negotiated

Hmm, the term “wood for trees” comes to mind! Note to self; stand back and look at all the config components carefully.

If anyone is interested - all I did to get this to work was turn off the “Channel encryption”. The remote LDP server isn’t using SSL at present. Well I did say it should be simple
