Relay

I recently put a restriction on our mai lserver to stop all relaying of mail except for people at our loaction. So mail from 192.168.. are the only ones allowed to send mail.

I now have 3 external sales guys who only want to use Outlook Express to send mail from their home offices. As soon as they try to send mail it gets trapped in this rule and the mail goes nowhere.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get around this without making us vunerable to Relaying attacks?

None of the external sales people have a static IP address.

Thanks in advance.

Use a VPN solution that assigns them an address in the 192.168.. range. How do they access their mail today notes client?

The currently use Outlook for their mail and did not want to switch to Lotus. They have other companies they work for also.

Their mail is forwarded to them, but a copy is kept on the server for archiving.

A VPN could work, I think I need to set that up or force them to use the iNotes which is already in operation.

Thanks,

You should also be able to use a FQDN in hte allowed relay field. so for instance if their isp is verizon and they get a Domain name of verizon.com, then you shold be able to add computer.verizon.com to the allowed senders field and they should be able to relay mail.

However, if you already have iNotes I would go that way.

Good Luck.

Can you not give them DWA for their mail? Do they not have laptops they can use to VPN into your server and access with a Notes Client?

Allowing them to use anything but your corporate mail may cause your company problems if litigation comes up and you have no ability to archive their mail.
