Rejecting Ambiguous names

I just passed the update exam, but following question in my exam preps still puzzles me

Which of the following type of permanent failure response is sent when you enable the domino server to reject ambiguous names through directory lookups against the primary Domino directory?

The enabling is done from the Server configuration document under router/SMTP->Restrictions and Controls-> SMTP inbound controls and as far as I know the only other way to do the enabling is through a notes.ini parameter.

When I enabled it in 8.5.3 test environment I got 550 user unknown . My prep material claimed that the correct answer is 554 rejected for policy reasons. Another where the question was formulated differently agreed with my test.

Which is right? Or has it changed in different releases throug 8.0 to 8.5.3?

Or could the author of this question be thinking of Server configuration document setting router/smtp → Advanced → ControlsRestrict name lookups to primary directoy only? This produces 554 rejected for policy reasons. As far as I understand this does not reject ambiguous names as such if the names are in the primary directory? This is not a new feature for 8.0 or 8.0.1 and the exam in question was upgrade which concentrates on new features.
