Reinstall Domino Server

Dear Lotus Community,

We have an iseries box with several partitions. On one of these is a domino server that keeps crashing with Fatal Exceptions regarding insufficient memory. The server had been up and running smoothly for 2 weeks and now all of a sudden it won’t boot up.

How can I reinstall the server without deleting or overwriting the data?

Thank you for your suggestion.

I don’t know about iSeries but I know that on the windows platform when you install over the top of an existing installation the existing data / settings are retained.

You shouldn’t need a reinstall. Have you tried deleting the shared memory for that Domino server? I’ve had a lot of issues with the same error messages and clearing out the shared memory worked for me. The command is DLTDOMSMEM and F4 to prompt it.

DLTDOMSMEM (and DLTDOMSEM) command will need to be received from Lotus support. It is the green screen equivalent of the Application Development section in iSeries Navigator.

Will the server start after an IPL of the LPAR?

Regardless, if you feel you need to reinstall the software you should be able to just install over what you have now. Since you’re on a Fixpack, you may need to re-apply the Fixpack PTF after re-loading the 6.5.3 software.

Alternatively you could upgrade to 6.5.4 FP2 - it was really stable for me on iSeries.
