One of our database has been loaded with 200,000 documents and the reindexing of views is taking 48hrs+ (using updall or Ctrl/Shift F9). If however we create a local replica and do a Ctrl/Shift F9 then it builds all the views in less than 3 hrs and works perfectly. Why does the server version take so long to reindex and how can I reduce that time (design changes are not an option).
Thanks
Subject: reindexing View
Brian
It sounds like something is WAY off-target.
I have recently had the pleasure of designing/augmenting a DB with over 1.5 million documents, and around 70 views in the DB.
The rebuild of view indices took a maximum of 45 minutes to carry out.
I think design (or something seriously wrong with the server, which I doubt) is the ONLY option.
If you need advice on view design, or want someone to look over the DB, then we can communicate outside here, no probs.
