The server build information does not exist in the server document of the roaming server. Specifically MajVer does not exist. It should be populated by the ‘Put Server’s Notes Build Number…’ request. Keep in mind that the request is generated by the server itself and must replicate to the admin server to be processed. Said server document would then need to replicate to the ‘registration server’ if that isn’t your admin server.
Check to see that the roaming server created the request and that it made it to the admin server of the NAB.
I continue to get the message “The specified roaming server is pre 6 and does not support roaming features…” even though I have verified that the Server build number is “Release 6.0.1” and the Notes client version is also at 6.0.1. I have also confirmed that the “Put Server’s Notes Build Number…” administration proces request was submitted and has completed normally without errors. I have the server set up on a Windows NT machine. Are there other conditions that would cause this error message to display?
Specifically MajVer must be present in the roaming server server document. The value must be 6. Look for this in the domino directory on the registration server specified.
Sorry, but I’m not sure what “MajVer” refers to. Is this supposed to be a data field in the server document form? If so, I was unable to locate such a field, either by simply reviewing the document itself or by looking at the document properties for the server form and scrolling through a listing of all the field names and values. Is it a literal string that I should be able to see by looking at the server document? I don’t find any such value and am not quite sure where in the server document I should be looking to find it. Thanks again for any guidance you can provide.
You should be able to find it using properties of the server document. You will not see it in the form itself. It is not present then the ‘Put Server’s Notes Build Number…’ did not complete properly. Check the ‘Put Server’s Notes Build Number…’ for this server in the admin4.nsf on the admin server of the Domino Directory. That request should also contain the MajVer item. Is it there? Rerun the ‘Put Server’s Notes Build Number…’ request, and see if it populates this field.
I reprocessed the original administration request to “Put Server’s Build Number…”, then rechecked the properties of the Server document. The MajVer property now is present with the value of “6”. I’m a little confused as to why the request didn’t process normally the first time, but at least it seems to have worked now. Thank you for you help.
But i have one other problem.I have three users that shared the same machine. I have installed Lotus Notes 6.0.1 and create 3 users with roaming users profil.
I have copied the three id file in the machine, but the roaming user replication doesn’t work.
Do you have some documentation about the roaming users works ? I have read in domino documentation but nothing about installation (procedure)on the client machine
Subject: try the multi-user client install feature
if you have several users (roaming or not) sharing one Notes Client, try using the new Notes Multi-User Client install (only available for the Notes-only license). This allows each user to have their own personal data directory, but share the Notes program files. It’s very convenient - especially for roaming users.
