Hi all
I have a Domino R5 installed in a RedHate based server and 2 registered users using Notes client and administrator (win plataform). Am I ok with the license stuff? I mean, am I ok about piracy?
If not what I have to buy?
Thanks
And have a good day
Subject: you must have a license for both your servers and your clients
Domino servers can be purchased in 2 versions: Messaging and Collaboration
Clients can be purchased as: Notes, iNotes, or Webmail… again with the option of just Messaging or Collaboration

Purchasing Notes is a royal pain in the ass.
It’s WAY too hard to purchase Notes products
It took me 5 weeks to get 2 copies.
One reseller told me Notes 6 wasn’t out yet.
All i wanted was two clients, no server, and i had to stuff around back and forth with both IBM and the reseller.
A LOT of work considering. I’m sure this would deter most people from completing the purchase. I would have given up if i was not a die hard Notes fan.

In fact, for US customers, it’s already here:IBM Products

It would be useful if this page also described what the fundamental differences were between:1) Notes for Messaging 6 AND Notes for Collaboration 6
- Domino Messaging 6 AND Domino Enterprise 6
Also - did you know that purchasing Domino for less than 2,000 seats is a very frustrating process. Seems that IBM is geared for big sales but finds it very difficult to process the SME (small to medium enterprise) purchases. At least, this is the case in Australia.

This page is a big improvement, but it contains a lot of sales stuff whereas it would be much more useful if it clearly and cogently explained the licencing issues (# processors etc.). I can’t imagine that anyone will be convinced to buy by the blurb, but they might certainly be put off by not knowing how the licences work.
Good to see electronic delivery though.
BTW the delivery sizes appear to be 100x too large

Subject: in Germany it is quite easy. There are a large number of Business Partners reselling licences
and for single copies there are also general resellers who sell it without any kind of contract like Passport.Even SuSE sells Notes in Germany bundled with Linux.

Same link for Canada as the US (you can go to Canada, then Purchase, then Software Overview, then Groupware and Lotus, finally selecting Notes or Domino 6 near the bottom of the list, and you wind up at the same link Ed gave above).
