I’ve upgraded a 6.0 client running on Win 2000 (SP3) to 6.0.1. This upgrade seemed to work fine and no errors were reported. However, when I relaunch notes I get the red box of death, just after the Lotus Flash page.
Error is the old favourite:
… Uncorrectable error …
LookupHandle: null handle
I have already successfully upgraded a few clients running XP, and our test server also upgraded ok.
Other than the Op system being different, the Win 2000 machine only had the Notes Client (not the Designer or the admin client) and I used the “all” client incremental installer (although it did recognise that the other client were not installed and I did not select them).
Any one else had this problem or does Iris have a quick fix for me before I removed the notes install and re-install 6.0?.
Now I’m not able to reinstall (not even 6.0 again).
Does anybody know how to uninstall Lotus Notes completely? (not only uninstall program, but also all the files and registry entries which for sure are still there and make new install of Notes 6.0 not work (neither 6.0.1))
I managed to reinstall 6.0 over the top of the previous install (ie. without removing the previous 6.0.1 failed upgrade … tut tut … I know I was being lazy but it worked). I used the C478ENA.exe installer to do the reinstall.
Once reinstalled 6.0, I launched the Notes Client and … nothing happened other than plenty of CPU usage for about 20 mins. Eventually I terminated the lnnotes, exe and re booted the machine. On reboot everything appears to be working fine.
