I might be missing something here but I recently experienced a problem with a user who crashed his pc beyond repair and forgot his password at the same time! He was supplied with a replacement pc and when I ran the notes client configuration I could not get notes to prompt to recover his password. I recovered his id on a pc that already had the notes client configured and changed the password which in turn syncronised the internet password and updated password digest, the only thing it didn’t do was change the password for the id which is stored in the roaming users address book on the server. This then created a bit of a problem when trying to run the notes client configuration as the password in the users address book was different to the recently changed password. Any help with this would be appreciated as I anticipate more of our users doing this.
Subject: Recovered password not accepted when running notes client configuration for roaming user
If the user is in the roamed state (working from a roamed workstation) when the password is changed, then the modified ID file will be reattached to the local roaming user profile. When Notes replicates, the new ID file in the profile note will be copied to the server’s directory.
It sounds like the password change occurred while the user was not working from a roamed workstation, which means no local roaming user profile note, which means no server update.
