If you have this error on your server, you’d need to check if in the ($Users) view of the addressbook, there are more matches for xxx (not for xxx@xxx.com).

Also, if you use directory assistance, it’s possible there are several matches. You can disable the use of the secondary directories for mailaddressing via smtp in the configuration document.

If you have this error in your Notes client, you can change your location document what needs to be done (stop after first match/exhaustively check all addressbooks)

cheers,

Tom

Hiin fact I 2 matches in ($Users) view. Those 2 matches came from 2 guys with the same FirstName. Everything is diferent (namely internet address) but they have the same FirstName!

Is it posssible to turn this around without asking one of them to change his FirstName?

Thanks in advance

I recently had a similar problem. After some browsing aroung in the $Users view, I found out that someone had use the same internet address for a couple of resources for our IT Deparment email account.

To fix the problem you only need to erase or replace the internet address associated with the resources.

I had exactly the same situation, a regional IT support staff created a Room Resource in the Resource Reservations Database, and there is a field for Internet Address.

They placed their own internet address in this field.

After the room resource is saved, an adminp request is generated to create a mail-in database for the room.

After Adminp created the mail-in database document, suddenly the Internet address is no longer unique.

This would explain why we could email the person with the Notes Canonical Name, but not the Internet Address.
