Hello,
We have mixed enviornment of Domino server R6.5.4 and R7.
One of our domino server R7 overseas, is up and running well since last 1.5 year. No issues.
I have following situation.
Receipient = R1
Sender = S1
S1 sends an email from either USA office or Overseas office, R1 is in overseas. R1 says he receives 2-3 copies of that email whenever S1 sends. S1 can be any one from either overseas office or USA office.
It seems every one in R1’s office receives multiple copies of an email from S1.
Sent folder only shows one copy of an email being sent to R1.
Any idea how to debug this problem and what is happening?
Thanks
Urit
Subject: Recipient receives multiple emails from sender
My guess is that your servers are experiencing a communication problem, the email is transfered from S1’s server to R1’s server, but before the “done” command, the connection is severed. S1’s server then re-tries to send the email to R1’s server. You can verify this by checking the times/dates that R1 receives the documents. If the time interval between the various copies of the same message matches your router re-try interval. you found the source of your problem. If not, keep reading…
Have S1 send email to R1. Send email with ‘trace entire path’ and look for multiple attempts from Server 1 to Server 2.
Also, turn on message tracking and track the message that way.
