hello,

i am probably are too late with this one but voila.

i had the same error message when i wanted to re-certify a user to another OU.

What i found is that when you create a OU and it is noty appearing in the NAB, it will be created in your local names.nsf. The error could be that you have created the certifier “on local”. Delete the OU and re-create it on the server by selecting the server on which you create the OU’s. Then it will be visible in the global addressbook.

It may not be the same problem, but I have had similar. When I checked the Public Key of the OU in question (look in the Configuration-Certificates view on the Admin GUI and open the relevent OU Document in Edit mode) I found it didn’t match the one contained in the OU certificate file I was using.

You can check the public key of the OU’s id file by going to Configuration tab of the Admin GUI and selecting Certification-ID Properties. Select the offending OU and enter the pw. Now open the the “Your Identity” section and look at “Your Certificates”. Click “Other Actions” and then “Mail, Copy Certificate”. Click “Copy Certificate” and exit from the dialogs. Paste the cert into Notepad or some such.

Check the copied version again the one stored in the Directory (names.nsf). If they are different, paste the copied one from the OU’s id file into the OU’s document (take a back up first!).

If there is no probs with the certs in the file and the document the next place to look is Certlog.nsf.

Open a document belonging to a user who is giving you problems. Check the “Certificate Issued by”, “Id Number” against a user in the same OU who you COULD recertify. if they don’t match, copy and paste the ID from the “working” user’s document to the “broken” user’s document. Make a back up first!

Both of these have worked for me.

Hope it helps
