Receiving Encrypted Internet Mail

Hi. I’m pulling my hair out here. Here’s the situation:

  1. I work for IBM who use Notes.

  2. I need to receive encrypted emails from Citibank.

  3. I obtained an internet certificate and imported it into my ID.

  4. I ‘Signed’ and email and sent it on to the Citibank contact.

  5. They received successfully and returned an encrypted emai.

  6. I cannot read the email - it’s blank.

I checked my location documents and they are all set to receive MIME; I also checked my entry on the server’s NAB and that also is set to receive mail in the senders’ format.

I checked my Security settings and they complain that there is a problem with my certificate and that it cannot be found it in the Domino Directory.

The helpdesk here are 100% contradicting what citibank are saying, by claiming that Citibank need a certificate and they need to send me their key.

Can anyone shed any light on what’s going wrong? Should my key be added to the NAB?

Any help would be appreciated.

I may be oversimplifying this, but have your Citi contact send you a signed message. Open the message and accept the certificate. Then you should be able to send encrypted to them and receive an encrypted message from them.

Thanks for your reply, Gregg. I have received a signed email from Citi - it holds an *.PC7 attachment, but I can’t seem to accept it. What do I need to do? I’ve tried going into Security and importing certificate but it errors with “Cannot add certifcate from the import file”…

Detach the *.P7C file to your hard drive. Open your PNAB. Go to Advanced/Certificates. Click on Actions/Import Internet Certificates. Follow the prompts. You should be good to go after that.
