Reader Fields, Replication and localdomainservers

I’ve been reading about this subject on the forum and else where and I think I have it straight but I just wanted to verify…

If I have documents that contain reader fields and those documents need to replicate, then I think I have to include localdomainservers as a reader. That’s correct isn’t it?

And when I include localdomainservers, do I add it as

LocalDomainServers

or

“LocalDomainServers”

For some reason, I think if you reference a group, you are suppose to do it without quotes. I’ve had some trouble with this in the past because they were always using spaces in groups, but “This is my group” wouldn’t work and notes wouldn’t let you enter

this is my group

because it contained spaces and it thought it was separate entries. I even tried “this” + “is” + “my” + “group” but that wouldn’t work either. And then I discovered roles.

Thanks.

Subject: Reader Fields, Replication and localdomainservers

Kevin,

“LocalDomainServers” is the correct way to enter the group name into a ReaderNames field. However, the best way is to use “[Servers]” (or whatever name you want) instead, and then to apply this role in your ACL to whatever server entries you want. You can apply it to LocalDomainServers, or to just the three servers you’re interested in, or to LocalDomainServers plus a few more servers in another domain, etc.
