Read emails disappear from inbox view

I have a client running 6.5.4 who’s read/replied to/forwarded emails disappear from the inbox view , but still are in the All Docs view. She has no rules or agents related to this issue. Her client’s set to view all docs - show’s as view unread. This happened once before and once I replaced her desktop6.ndk file the issue went away. Any ideas what could be the issue?

Hi Pamela,

I had the same problem a few weeks ago.

Compavting the desktop6 solved the problem with one user, but not with the second user.

A new replica of the second user’s mail file solved the problem.

His original database was 1.4Gb, and the replica only 400Mb, with same number of docs, and deletion stubs.

What I did (after solved the problem) is a batch file running on every login, compacting desktop, cache & bookmarks.

I hope the problem will never come back because it was the president and vice-prosident who suffered…

Thank you both for your posts. I tried compacting her workspace and got an error Function to-be-defined. I deleted her cache.ndk file and still no change.Her mail file is only 146mb…so odd…

I reinstalled notes about a month ago and she rebuilt her workspace so I hate to go that route.

Her view is fine - button shows as view unread.

I’m going to keep looking but wanted to thank you - any help is appreciated!!

I’m not sure about 6.5.4 but in 6.03 there is an action button at the top of the inbox that toggles between ‘View Unread’ and ‘View All’. Make sure that it displays ‘View Unread’. The way it works seems backwards to me but we had several users that did this and it causes the read mail to be removed from the inbox right after it is read.
