Re-signed Java applets for Lotus Domino now available for download

The certificate for some Java applets in Lotus Domino 6.5x, 7.0.x, 8.0.x, and 8.5 expires on May 18, 2009. Re-signed applets are now available for download.

For instructions on downloading and applying the re-signed applets, see Technote #4022981 – Download re-signed Java applets for Lotus Domino (May 18, 2009) (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg24022981)

For background information, additional options for addressing the issue, and frequently asked questions and answers, see Technote #1381298 – Security certificate expiration messages generated from Domino applets (May 18, 2009) (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21381298)

Please note that Lotus Sametime applets are also affected. If you use Lotus Sametime 7.0, 7.5.1 CF1 or CF2, and 8.0.x, refer to Technote #1380778 – Sametime applets signer certificate expires on 18 May 2009 (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21380778)

Subject: Re-signed Java applets for Lotus Domino now available for download

We installed the updates on our test server (R6.5.6FP3), as per the procedure outlined here:http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg24022981

When tested in a web browser the applets still have expiration of May 20 2009. How do we verify if the new applets have been properly installed?

I also have a question in regards to this applet expiration date.

I am trying to re-create the error (for testing purposes before I put into Prod) by using webmail over the network. but I just don’t seem to get the error as described?

I have simply changed the date on the test server to 19/5/09 and enable http. The logged into webmail as per norm.

Sorry, am I having Mondayitus and being dumb?

Has anyone else run tests, if so can you explain how?

Many Thanks

Simple test is to enable names.nsf on a dev server for web access. The NAB contains web views which use Domino applets when opened via web eg. http://[server name]/names.nsf

Change the date on your CLIENT, not server and open the NAB via browser. You should then see the security warning message.
