If a user was originally registered as DWA user without notes ID and now have need for full notes client which requires notes ID, how can this be accomplished?I know user can be registered again and under advanced options specified to update existing entry but there is no way to keep by default existing mailfile because this option is going to replace existing mailfile, this is not an option there are existing emails. Workaround is to create new mailfile and then change in person doc at later time back to original mailfile created while user had no ID.
You can register the user with NO mail file and the same name. When the user is created, change the Person doc back to using a mail file and the old value will be there.
Depending on the registration server/home server and how long replication takes between the two, it is possible that the user could not get mail for a short period of time. Manual replication can minimize this risk.
thanks, this is one less step in my process so better then nothing I was actually creating new mail file and then deleting it, and re-pointing to old mail file in person doc… thanks for advice.
