Now that R8.5 is available. After being certified for R8, do u still need to be re-certified for R8.5 ?

So that means, if I am Certified as a developer on R7, I have to do an update exam to R8…and then another update exam to R8.5 ? Or can you go from R7 to R8.5 - is it a cumulative exam from version 7.

I am an advanced application developer(pclp) in R7. If I want to upgrade that to R8, I have to write 2 exams including one in R7!!! I don’t understand why should I write an exam in R7 if I am already a pclp in that version.
Also, do I have to update to R8.5?
And what happens when R9 comes. Can I write one exam to upgrade to R9 from R8 or will there be multiple exams as well?

Subject: There is only one exam
You have to take the Update exam for 8 to get certified in 8. The Advanced developer will then carry forward depending on what exam you did for the Advanced (principal) in 7.
Then you have another exam for 8.5. And yes, if 9 comes out, there will be an update exam for that!

That a good information. But, I was a pclp in R5 and wrote 1 upgrade exam and became advanced application developer in R6. Then wrote another upgrade exam to become advanced developer in R7.
Are you telling that I can write one upgrade exam and become advanced developer in R8.
But, the certification path says following:
Prerequisite certification required:
IBM Certified Application Developer - Lotus Notes and Domino 7
Test(s)

One of the following:
a. Test 737 - Using LotusScript in IBM Lotus Domino 7 Applications
b. Test 753 - Using JavaScript in IBM Lotus Domino 7 Application s
c. Test 756 - Using Web Services in IBM Lotus Domino 7 Applications

Test 801 - IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 Application Development Update
I haven’t written any of the above R7 exams as I upgraded from R6 directly.
