Due to time contraints in our migration process we will not have all mail servers upgraded to R651 prior to pushing out the first clients.our plan is also to change all clients to work off their local mail file so they are encapled in an R6 environement and there is minimal interaction with the actual R5 server other than replciation.
Is there any documentation on known errors/issues that make this a problem? I know that not all the features of the R6 template are supported on an R5 server etc. but I am more interested oin stuff like big unread marks erors, probelms with agents or anything else that might come to bite us in the behind afterwards.

I’m running this for month now in our environment.I can’t report any problems, although I run a LN 6 Mail template on a 5.0.12 server. I have one (easy) agent successfully running in the mailfile. Accessing the mailfile via HTTP gives some nice errors ;-). Unread marks are no problem, working as good/bad as used.
But I wouldn’t take this into production for all users. I would stay with the R5 template and upgrade the server as quick as possible.

I ran with a 6/6.5 client for some time before my servers were upgraded. I didn’t experience any issues with unread or agents. As long as you don’t try to use any new ND6 features against your R5 server, things seem to behave just fine.
