R6 Client makes R4/R5 folders Disappear

Here’s the scenario we are encountering. Stay with me here…

  • An R4 designed mailfile is accessed by a user with only editor rights.

  • Everything is fine if a user uses an R4 client.

  • However if the user with an R6 client creates a folder (with only editor rights to his mailfile) then all the folders will disappear.

  • They actually are still viewable from an R4 client, just not the R6 client.

  • To fix the issue we (admins) just go into the users R4 mailfile with an R6 client with Manager rights and everything is good again. The user sees all folders in R6 and can create future folders.

To Summarize:

If an R4 mailfile has never been accessed by an R6 client with manager rights…a user with Editor rights and an R6 client will make all folders “disappear” by creating a folder.

The same thing occurs with R5 designed mailfiles and the R6 client.

Has anyone else experienced this issue (or can duplicate it), and is there a fix (other than going into each users mailfile with manager rights.)

I’m using Notes 6.0 and I am experiencing a similar problem. If I create a new folder and then select a location for the folder to appear then all the folders above the point I select disappear. I have not found a way to get them back. Opening the R5 mail file in an R5 client did not show the folders.
