R6.0.1 & Win2k SP3

I’ve heard that you should run Win2k SP3 with R6.0.1 or you experience severe performance degredation…

Can anyone verify this?

Thanks…tim

Subject: Yes, SP3 is required

You can find the details in the Release Notes of R6.0.1:

Microsoft has acknowledged and addressed a network issue in Windows 2000 that can degrade the performance of both the mail router and the statistic collector in Notes/Domino 6, affecting the server, the Domino 6 Administrator, and Tivoli Analyzer. The problem is addressed in Windows 2000 SP3, and separately in MS hotfix Q28286 for systems running SP2. This fix is strongly recommended for all Domino 6 Administrator and Server machines.

For Windows 2000, Lotus recommends using Service Pack 3 to avoid severe performance problems that occur during server monitoring.

Crystal,

I think the problem is that performance problems are recognized with SP3 (sounds strange, I know, but SP2 did and does not make problems). We have also downgraded two server to SP2 because the systems have had extreme problems. Are there maybe different versions of SP3 available? Maybe some of them haven’t got the fix?

I can find no reference to Q28286 on any MS, IBM or any other site and I believe there is a # missing - typically MS hotfixes have 6 numbers not 5. I also called Lotus support and they have no knowledge of this fix or any reason not to run R6 on windows 2000 SP2. Since we will upgrading our servers soon and are running SP2 (cannot upgrade to SP3 yet due to other constraints) could you provide more information on the hotfix (or the correct number)? Thanks.
