Quota: All Documents Delete but Quota Size Still at 50MB

Hi all,

Got a user with a quota of 60MB. After archiving(local) and deleting the old message. The file size remains the same! I did a compact and it didnt helped.

I made a copy of the user’s mail file and deleted all the documents from the "All Documents view…still the file size of the mail file wasnt changed. Any solutions to this?

many thanks,

James,

If Transactional logging is enabled from the server level then you must either (A) enable the DB Property called “Disable Transactional Logging” before compacting which will allow compacting “with size reduction”, or (B) You can force compacting “with size reduction” from the server console by issuing a “Compact -B” command.

Otherwise, you can try a 3rd party tool such as AttachZIP - HCL Notes Zip mail, compression, archiving, image optimization, AttachZIP - NotesMail - HCL Business Partner 🗜️📎🤏 - which significantly compresses file attachments.

You can convert attachments to ZIP, LZ1, or the new BZIP2 format. BZIP2 can compress as much as 20% better than ZIP.

And you are sure you did a compact with file reduction ?If not, specify the correct option for the compact. Note that this can only be done using the Administrator or the console, not in the client and therefore not by the user.

I am running 6.02CF1 and have set a job up in the programs area of the server documents. This job runs every night. It is a compact with these options.

-s 10 -F -h -R

With the server doing the compact, I have never experienced issues with reclaiming space. I have even migrated 1 of my server to 6.5 and it all seems to function normally. Maybe I am just lucky.

You can make a File-Database-New copy and just copy the design elements (not data)… however 60 MB is very small, maybe if you get a compression tool it could help you… there’s one at www.mk-net-work.com (ZipMail)

From the console put the command

load compact -B mail\databasename.nsf

if the problem still persisit than only solution is replace the mail file with new replica. If you have cluster enviroment than check the file size on cluster mailfile wether its proper or not.

Hi James,

I’m having the same problem, when I compact the database with size reduction (and also using copy method) but the problem persist.

When I make a local replica of the database it new size is reduced considerably, this is only a provisional solution until I reach out what is happening.

If someone found a solution for this problem, please write it.

Best Regards
