Question on Groups and ACL

I just have a quick question about Groups and ACL in conjunction with Lotus notes.

I figured out how to use certifier ID’s, how to create them and so forth. Everything seems to be working well.

One problem i’m having though after I create a user is this:

I create the user and then fire up lotus notes…I specify the certifier ID that I just created and lotus notes opens up.

BUT…when I click on the mail tab, it says I do not have permission to open this up and would I like to remove it…in fact, it says that for all of them except for the bookmarks…

Now, I now im new to this and probably have to dive more into groups and such, but im confused as to why this occurs.

Can anyone fill me in?

Thank you.

You wrote you “specify the certifier ID that I just created and lotus notes opens up”. That doesn’t sound right. You should use the User.ID file which got certified with the certifier ID.

Correct. My fault on poor wording.

I registered the user. I saved the user.id to a floppy and then walked over to the test machine.

I opened up Lotus notes. When it asked for the user I would be logging in with, I clicked other and then navigated to the floppy drive and selected the user.id that was just created…

My thinking is that I did not set up the groups or ACL correctly…

Also, I regsitered the organization as well as a organizational OU…

When I created the new user, I selected the OU I previously created…so my user looked like this:

testuser/operations/acme

That make sense?

So either I did not add the new user to the correct group or the operations OU does not have the correct permissions…

Looks like i’ll be in for a long evening working with this. It’s fun though.

Make sure it is pointing to the mail server and file that you just registered.
