We’re in the beginning of a project to install Websphere Portal 6.1, Quickr 8.1 and Sametime 8.0 and together with domino mail to create a user portal. If I understand it correctly all servers must use the same ldap-catalog if we want SSO and Sametime awareness. The portal, Quickr and Sametime can use our ldap-catalog but is it possible to have domino use the same ldap-catalog for authentication? It is a new install so we don’t have to consider migration or changes in user-name. We don’t want to use domino as our ldap-catalog.
Any ideas?

…on the ldap directory you’re planning to use. You can use a non-Domino LDAP directory for authentication and Domino supports a number of popular LDAP directories out-of-the-box. See the release notes of your Domino version for details.If your Domino mail users are already registered in your Domino directory, you may also consider synchronizing this information with your other non-Domino LDAP directory using for example TDI (which comes “for free” as part of Domino 8).

We are perhaps considering domino as ldap anyway. Are there any important differences between a domino ldap server and a Tivoli Directory Server, for instance performance that we need to know about?
