I downloaded all of the updates for ND6. That is The full client QMR from 6.0.0 to 6.0.1 as well as the Critical Fixpack1.
Both of these files are 97.5Mb in size. Therefore can someone tell me if I need to install only CF1 over a 6.0.0 client to update it or do I need to install both one after the other.
This is all very confusing.
With the server I guess its more obvious since the QMR is 136Mb and CF1 is 79MB so I’m assuming both files need to be applied to the server one after the other.
Additionally, can someone enlighten me as to why these files are so damn large. I thought the whole point of smart update was that the files could be smaller so that they could be updated easily. I’m gonna have some real p***ed users if they try and run this over the VPN.
TIA
Mike
Subject: QMR CF1 infor
I thought CF1 was for DOmino 6.0.1, meaning you need to upgrade to 6.0.1 before adding the CF1 patch. My guess it that 6.0.2 will include the cf1 patch.
Why they are big? You ask me, I ask you…
I guess there were some major problems

Subject: RE: QMR CF1 infor
Just one info from the “wild”:Today I updated a full Notes 6.0.0-client-installation with the CF1-Fullpackage. After update all clients worked. But as said, no clear information if it is the right way. I mean IBM/Lotus must make clear which way to go (6.0.0 ->6.0.1>CF1 or 6.0.0 ->CF1).

Subject: Educated Guess - CFs will work just as MUs did
My educated guess is that CFs (Critical Fixes) are going to work exactly as MUs (Maintenance Updates) did.
What I think you’re confused about is the use of “FULL” client installations versus INCREMENTAL installers.
So, if you install the “FULL” CF release, you’re installing a full client (fixes included) and this can be installed over any prior release of Notes6 (meaning 6.0.1CF1 can be installed on top of 6.0.0, completely bypassing 6.0.1).
However, if you install the “Incremental Installer” CF, then this needs to be installed over the prior MR (Maintenance Release) or CF version (meaning 6.0.1CF2 can only be installed on top of a 6.0.1CF1 client, which could only be installed on top of a 6.0.1 client, etc.)
And by the way, I only used 6.0.1CF2 as an example. At the time of this writing, there is no 6.0.1CF2 release.
One last thing . . . MRs include ALL prior CFs; so if 6.0.1CF1 has a fix that you need, 6.0.2 will have that fix included as well. At least that’s what IBM says!
Hope this helps!
Subject: Well actually, there IS a 6.0.1CF2
And I am wondering why. It is posted as a download on the Business Partner site. I can find no explanation for what it fixes or why it’s there. But they have posted 6.0.1CF2 for both the server and the client. I will make a separate post to see if anyone knows why.
