Providing hosted Lotus Notes

Hi

I’m absolutely new to the Lotus Notes/Domino products. We are presently evaluating mailing/groupware solutions including Notes and MS Exchange.

What we basically want to do ist to provide our customers with a hosted groupware solution. We want to give them the ability to have the following:

  • Mailaccounts for a domain (e.g. user1@ibm.com… usern@ibm.com)

  • Webadministration of user (add new user/remove user, and so on)

  • primarily web based clients for accessing the full lotus spectrum.

My question now is. Would this be possible with Domino/Notes? I espacially haven’t found anything for the webadministration part. Can different customers administre their domain through web on their own?

Thanks for any help on this topic.

Hosted Organizations in Lotus Notes / Domino is a standard feature of the product (just requires a command line argument to be passed to the setup program to enable it upon installation). You can host websites, mail, and applications very easily.

Administrators of the various hosted organizations can manage their settings & applications, registration of users, maintain access and more.

We use hosted organizations in a Domino environment and like it quite a lot.

It’s certainly all possible with Notes/Domino and very easy to administer.

If you decided to use primarily web-based clients, you may be denying yourself a lot of extra functionality.

If possible, get yourself along to one of the LotusSphere comes to you sessions. They’re available in a lot of countries and will help you to understand the product.
