@Prompt and field lists

I have three fields on a form. From an action button, I want to display the three fields in an @prompt list. All fields are text type and single value.

This code …

myList:=field1:field2:field3;

@Prompt([OKCANCELLIST];“”;“”;“”;myList)

fails with … Incorrect data type for operator or @function

If I do this…

@Prompt([OKCANCELLIST];“”;“”;“”;field1:field2:field3)

this works fine.

hhuummmmmmm…

If I do

myList:=“1”:“2”:“3”;

@Prompt([OKCANCELLIST];“”;“”;“”;myList)

this works as well

Does this mean a list variable based on fields will fail in an @Prompt list? Kind of looks that way to me, but I may be doing something wrong.

Just call me brain death.

I am not able to understand what you are trying to achieve…you said you want to display three fields…you mean to say three fields names or three fields values…If you are going to display names of three fields in prompt it should be myList:=“field1”:“field2”:“field3”;

@Prompt([OKCANCELLIST];“”;“”;“”;myList)

If you want to display the values in three fields you could try

myList:=@Text(field1):@Text(field2):@Text(field3);

@Prompt([OKCANCELLIST];“”;“”;“”;myList)

Sorry I should have been more clear. I want to display the values of the fields.

I’ve tried myList:=@Text(field1):@Text(field2):@Text(field3); and it doesn’t work. All fields are text type and single value.

You don’t say whether the @prompt or the assignment fails. Either way, I would bet it is an issue with a non-text value existing in one of the fields. Since you have a work-around, simply use that. An alternative might be to use: … @Text(field1) : @Text(field2) …

Use @Trim for the list

myList:=field1:field2:field3

as

myList:=@Trim(field1:field2:field3)

@Prompt([OKCANCELLIST];“”;“”;“”;myList)
