Hi, I would like to add a question here. I made a template from a database with documents included (profile documents too). When I take a look with NotesPeek at the profile document i see my variables variableX=“anything”. I created a database from the template (copy profile documents is activated in the template). I looked with NotesPeek at the new database and the profile document is there but no entries e.g. variableX=“anything” is missing. Can anybody tell me why?
Subject: Profile document lost all entries in a new db?
Hi.
To my knowledge teplates do not create profile documents as they don’t have deisgn elements to represent them.
Maybe you accessed the newly created database trying to read the profile document, which - in case it doesn’t exist - will be created then.
This might explain why you think that the template designed the profile doc, but it didn’t. And this would also explain why your data field in the profile doc is empty.
Could you try to create a new database using the template and check (with Notes Peek) if your profile doc really exists at that time?!

Hi,
I think there is a property to copy profiles from a template. Please have a look in the database Properties on the 4th tab : “Copy profile documents with design” under Inheritance.
I hope this will help,

Subject: No you’re wrong
Hi
When creating a db from a template that contains a profile, and after checking the appropriate box (see below),
the newly created db will inherit both profile doc, and its content.

Thank for all your help. I have checked the right box “copy profile document with design” but it is in fact empty after creating the new database (I had a look with notespeek). But there must be a way, otherwise this checkbox is a little bit useless ![]()
