Subject: Problems Replacing and Refreshing the design in Notes 6
Go to the database properties of the template file (.ntf file) and make sure the setting “Database file is a master template” is enabled NOT the setting “Inherit design from master template”

Choose File - Database - Properties for the mail database you wish to refresh.2. On the “design” tab, in the Inheritance section, click “Inherit design from master template”.
Under template name, enter “StdR6Mail”.
Now, do the design refresh.
I believe you do have to give at least reader level access to the template to the person doing the refreshing.

Thank you. That helped.
I used the load convert command and this did
push the template to the client.
However, the root of the problem is still causing me trouble, as I would like the client to then be able to use Designer on the template and find they are not authorized to do that.
I am not sure how to find out what access the client user has to their mail file. How do I do
this?
I did check the template and added the client
user to the list of users allowed.
So I guess I still would like to know what to
change to get rid of
“Design Replace Failed, You are not authorized to perform that operation” when I try to replace the design.
Whatever setting I don’t have is stopping my user being able to do other things too.

This problem is because your user dont have access to mail6.ntf template. Change the ACL in the template copying it to the local admin pc and put it back in the server.

Hi ,
We have the same problem than Josephine…
We have a locked template of our product to update the database of our customers.
The error message is the same :
"Design Replace Failed. You are not authorized to perform that action"
solutions we have tested :
1 ) Make a copy of the customers database and change the structure , it works one time .
The second time , the customer has the same message.
2 ) There is no problem with a template which is not locked and default access conceptor.
3 ) We have changed the ACL of the locked template => Default access is now manager access .
and have installed an independant Domino Serveur on a Linux Mandrake to test it :
results :
- It fixes the problem ... sometimes
- But for most of our customers , it didn't fixe this problem and
they are always not authorized to replace or update the Design of their database.
Why ?
