I have two 7.0.3 Domino servers (I’ll call them Server A & Server B). I am trying to have Server B become our primary mail server. Currently server A performs this function (and has for the last 5 or so years).
When I move the SMTP and IMAP services to the server B, they don’t work.
If I telnet to Server B on port 25 – I get the following message:
“421 domino-004.cadencesolutions.com SMTP service not available, closing transmission channel”
This message appears on the Domino console:
“05/03/2009 06:39:40 PM SMTP Server: Authentication is not enabled in the SMTP Internet Site Document for”
(There is no text after “for” – I think this should have the Organization name)
If I telnet to the Server B on port 143 – I get the following message:
“* BYE Domino IMAP4 Server Unable to authenticate session. This site is not enabled on the server. Mon, 4 May 2009 09:08:54 -0400”
This message appears on the Domino console:
“05/03/2009 06:39:45 PM IMAP Server: Connection attempted on , but not configured in IMAP Internet Site Document”
(nothing after the word “on”)
A couple notes:
-
both servers are configured identically on the server and server config document (at least doing a visual comparison)
-
I am using Internet site documents and have an SMTP Inbound and IMAP site documents configured. I have a “*” in the field – servers that host this site. I have also tried hardcoding Server B’s server name and IP addresses without any luck.
-
I have IMAP and SMTP enabled in Internet ports in the server document for boths servers.
I have found two semi-related technotes – but haven’t had any luck:

Any other ideas? I’m stuck!
Thanks!
