I developed an application using Notes discussion forum template. It works well for some users.
However, several of my users have trouble loading Notes applets. Here is the error message one user gave me:
“load: class lotus.notes.apps.outlineapplet.OutlineApple.class not found”
I did not write any fancy java applets myself… Any commnets?

Have you checked what access the users have to their windows machines? If you don’t have at least power user access you won’t be able to download the activex components into Internet Explorer… (at least that’s my experience, of course)

This system is being used by people from different countries and therefore, involves techinical settings at different sites. I have asked those who are expericing trouble check their user privileges and see if they have their Microsoft JVM installed.
I assume that when you mean having JVM installed using IE, you mean that when I go to IE’s “internet options”, I have the “JIT complier for virual machine enbaled” checked. Am I right?

In Notes 5, some of these applets worked only with Microsoft’s own Java Virtual Machine. It might be the same case in Notes 6 (I haven’t tested).
Check this in IE’s options, if you’re using IE. Make sure Microsoft JVM is ticked, and not the Sun one.

We had also this problem; it works with 5.0.12 (also with SUN JVM; Lotus Hotline told us this information and tests confirmed that) and with 6.0.1. Maybe the problem is the IE: When it is IE 6.X have you checked that there is a JVM installed?

You’re right about what the problem is… Microsoft VM has to be checked AND SUN JVMhas to be unchecked.
