While trying to install Lotus Notes client 8.5.3 on a Windows XP system, the installation fails during the verifying stage. With the error: Verifying: “com.ibm.notes.roaming.provider.feature_1.5.3.20110916-0921”
The error log says: CWPPR0516W: An error occurred during the install of feature com.ibm.xsp.feature_8.5.3.20110915-2025
I have seen this on multiple systems, but some install without problems. Some are upgrades from 8.5.1 FP5 and others 8.0.1. On this specific system I uninstalled 8.5.1 wFP5 and then tried to install 8.5.3. Also, if I install the client using the Notes client Des Admin package it will install without errors.
Subject: Problem caused by MS Patches?
I have encountered the same problem and found a solution: Firstly, I found that the 8.5.3 upgrade worked on XP provided that no MS Patches were installed. After installing MS Patches the 8.5.3 upgrade failed again. I then rebuilt XP, installed MS Patches, then allowed Java to update via the web update notification to ‘Java 6 update 34’, then the 8.5.3 installation works! I have tested these scenarios over and over and can reproduce the results reliably. So now we deploy the web-based ‘Java 6 update 34’ upgrade prior to installing the Notes 8.5.3 client and all is well. Hope this helps.

I’ve had the same Problem. I was able to fix it the following way:Unzip the updateSite.zip and Zip it again. I only had this problem on NON english installations but with that “workaround” it installs OK.
