I’m trying to distribute Lotus Notes 7.0.1 to client computers using a group policy, the .MSI file provided with 7.0.1 Client and a .MST file generated with InstallShield Tuner.
In Installshield tuner, i changed a few options to have a multi-user installation on the clients computers (since some computers are used by different users which log on under Windows XP using their own session)
Under Installshield Tuner, i created a .MST file and set the following options:
Application User → AllUsers
DataDir → c:\documents and settings%username%\local settings\application data\lotus\notes\data
Everything went fine during the deployment of the application on client computers. Notes is installed in the correct folder, and the personal folder is created in the correct emplacement.
But the error is: when i first run Lotus Notes 7 on a client computer, after specifying the name of the user and the location of the server, i have the following error:
fichier inexistant: pernames.ntf (in english: pernames.ntf does not exist)
It came to my attention that this problem seems to occur frequently with remote installations, as described here: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1LO09096
It explains that the source of the problem might be a line in notes.ini, pointing to the wrong folder. (directory=c:\program files\lotus\notes\data instead of c:\documents and settings%username%\local settings\application data\lotus\notes\data)
But it’s not the case here: my notes.ini is pointing to the correct place. But i have NO pernames.ntf file in my lotus\notes\data personal folder.
It also came to my attention that pernames.ntf only exists on computers where Notes was installed with the single-user option.
So, i think that I am missing something in my .MST file to specify that Notes should be installed in a multi-user way.
Does anyone encountered this problem before me ?
Any help would be welcome ![]()
Have a nice day,
Urbain.
