Problem migrating R&R to a new server

I am in the process of decomissioning a server (call it ServerA) that has been running R&R. I have replicated the DB to ServerB in the same domain. I have changed the Admin Process Server for the DB and have ser ServerB as the mail server. Now when I try to create a new reservation on ServerB I get a message “an Error occurred while validating the available time for this resource. Please try again later” I have tried everything that I can think of but can not get past this point. Also, probably related when I load the RnRMgr task I get a whole bunch of the error “RnRMgr Error processing calendar document (NoteID:NTxxxxxxxx) in database Office/Rooms.nsf: Cannot find user in Domino Directory”

I have tried everything that I can think of but am at a loss.

did you also change the server name in the mail-in database docs for all of the rooms and resources?

Subject: I think I know what the problem is, but don’t know the solution

None of the rooms have entries in the mail-in database view in the Names.nsf, and I have no idea when they got removed. I looked on the old server (same replica ID as the new server) and they are not there either.

So I created a new room and it got put into the names.nsf mail-in view OK, then I tried to create a reservation for the room but got the same error (while validating the available time" when I tried to save and close the reservation. So I guess there is something deeper than that.

Hi Bill,

Is the new room\site replicated accross you NAB? Is the admin server correctly entered in the ACL?

First, on the console i would run a “Tell sched validate” command where is located your reservation db,.

It will update every entry in the busytime db.

You should look at the console window. You will probably find a few errors.

If it’s doesn’t resolve your issue, you will have to delete your busytime.nsf db. Here’s the steps to get it done without shutting down your server.:

At the console window

  1. « Tell sched quit »

  2. « Tell calconn quit »

  3. Delete the busytime.nsf file located in the Data\ directory

You will probably have to do a few (5-10 times) “Db cache flush” command to get handle on this file.

After the file is deleted,

issue the following command:

  1. « Load calconn »

  2. « Load sched »

It will recreate the busytime.nsf db (with the busytime.ntf template). It will update every entr

  1. « Tell Sched validate »

Subject: Where does the Tell Sched validate get it’s information?

DOes it get it from the Names.nsf for all users and mail-in DB’s, it seems from some testing that I did that when I create a new resource it is not immediately available to book. As soon as I create it it appears in the mail-in, but not in the busytime.nsf. I have run tell sched validate and it still does not get into the busytime. If I then shut things down and delete the busytime.nsf and then restart the processes and run tell sched validate it get picked up.

The Admin server is set correctly and the server is running the Adminp process.

Subject: RE: Where does the Tell Sched validate get it’s information?

Normally, with a Tell sched it is almost immediate.

Did you try to book direclty in the RR db?

Did you try via your calendar?

In your location doc, you have a mail server. If you open the NAB on that server, is the info correct about your new room (MailServer, File etc.)?

When in your calendar, can you open the scheduler for that room?

Subject: I have a similar problem due to Mail-in db not being created

When I create a new resource, the mail-in database is not created. I have gone through the process of deleting Busytime and allowing it to be rebuilt to no avail until I manually create a mail-in database for the resource. So I guess the question is why isn’t the mail-in database built during the creation of a new resource? I’m still searching for an answer when I came across this posting. My server is 7.0.1 running on iSeries.
