Problem installing Domino on Solaris blade T6300

We run Domino 8.0.0 on Solaris 10 on a Sun V240 with 2 UltraSparc III1 @ 1.5 GHz. We are trying to migrate to a T6300 blade with 1 UltraSparc T1 - 6 cores with 16 GB memory. No luck so far, we get plenty of segmentation faults and core-dumps. We tried 8.0.0 and 8.0.1 with the same result, also tried editing the notes.ini with the memory parameters, also no luck.

Subject: Solved - Installing Domino 8 on Solaris 10

After talking to support, there is a known issue with the latest kernel patch from Sun and Domino 8.0.0 and 8.0.1.here’s the response from IBM:

I was able to identify your issue. It is currently investigated under SPR # SDSS7GFSGT: “Domino server crash on startup after Solaris 10 patch 137111-01 or 137111 -02 is installed.”

There is no fix yet, only a workaround: Uninstall the Solaris patch 137111.

I also tried installing the patch 137111-03, but the issue is not resolved.

After uninstalling patch 137111 Domino runs fine.

Subject: RE: Installing Domino 8 on Solaris 10

We ran into the same issue with the kernel patch on a new install here. The IBM tech that I worked with has opened a problem report with Sun so we’ll see where that goes.

Subject: RE: Problem installing Domino on Solaris

We have also that problem with Domino 6.5.6PF1SUN Support told us to try 137111-02 there should the problem be fixed.

I tried installing the patch 137111-04 yesterday, but the issue is not resolved.

Direct after try to start the Domino Server it runs in the NSD.

There is no fix yet, only a workaround: Uninstall the Solaris patch 137111.

After uninstalling patch 137111 Domino runs fine.

I’ll reopen my Case by SUN and IBM now.

Subject: Solaris 10 kernel 138888-01

I also had this problem but I’m running Update 5 of Solaris 10. Within the latest patch cluster from Jan 2009 Kernel release 138888-01 is bundled. I just confirmed this kernel plays nice with domino and does not provide the nice BUS core dump.
