Problem in LDAP Conversion to Domino

I have a problem with a client who is in the process of attempting to integrate Domino and Websphere along with single sign on with an LDAP environment.

Unfortunately the LDAP environment is not Domino but a separate LDAP system.

Now, signing on to Domino via the LDAP system is not a problem, got that all working fine. Signing on to Websphere ditto.

The problem comes in with legacy Domino applications and the Authenticated User Name.

In the legacy Domino Environment, my hierarchical user name is Mike Barlow/Manufacturing, and hence all documents which I have authored has that name as the author/editor of the document.

In the NEW system, when I authenticate against LDAP my user name comes back as the following:

CN=barlowm/OU=people/DC=pxed/DC=manufacturing/DC=com

Which means that I will no longer be able to edit documents which I authored, well that is short of adding authors fields to over 1 million docs with conversions of all the names in the existing authors fields.

So does anyone out there know of any type of “Automatic” conversion process which can be done to convert the LDAP Canonical name to the old Lotus Domino name?

Also, we have no write access to the LDAP directory, it is read only for our environment so we can’t put any conversion information into there, we can however, put a conversion into the Domino Directory if we need to.

But the only requirement is that the LDAP Canonical name must be the first entry in the UserID field to support single sign on with Websphere.

Thanks in advance for any help.
