We’ve just upgraded to 8.5.2. A customer of ours went straight in to her mail file and asked if documents filed in Private folders would be viewable by delegates in the All Docs view - which they are. Apparently (I don’t know if I ever came across it), according to her, in R4 documents they could be marked private. Not having an R4 client to hand I don’t know if this was the case out-of-the-box of whether it was a customisation here (before my time).
But also, would it not make sense that docs in private folders should not be viewable by others?
no, you cannot mark a document as private unless it is a document that is “available to public access” users (form property). This property is usually not enabled on the memo and reply forms.
no, documents in private folders would not be hidden from the all documents view. would it make sense that they should be, maybe, but it’s never worked like that.
The only way to hide a document from a delegated user would be to right click the document and go to properties, select the security tab (key) and deselect “All Readers and above” and indicate who can read/see the document. Not recommended to show your users how to do this though as changing that can easily cause other issues if the proper access is not given to the servers/admins/etc…
