Private Cluster Network

Hello everybody,

I have problems setting up a private cluster network on a ESX server. First let me explain that I already have implemented a cluster network which worked perfect but the member servers were dedicated servers on own hardware. Now all cluster members are on ESX.

Well I know the technote http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21154031 and I have defined everything according this technote. The problem I always have on the productive system is that as soon as i have enabled the second network card, connections from notes clients to the server fail. Pings are ok but telnet does not work. Additionally I managed to setup a private cluster network on a ESX test server with the same preconditions: two network cards, two notes ports, two named networks and the binding parameters and cluster network port definitions in the notes.ini and it works. Show cluster shows that the cluster port is working and has an availibility of 100. Notes clients still can connect to the server.

Now my question: Does anybody know in which order a private cluster network must be enabled and configured to make sure that everything works correctly?

Secondly, does anybody know how to work with the Lotus Domino Console when a second private LAN is configured? I have the problem that after a domino server on a machine with two NIC’s has started, I am not able anymore to simply connect to the server with the Domino Console. I first need to disable one connection, then restart the console and then enable the connection again. Then everything works fine.

Thanks for any good ideas.

Kind regards.
