Printing Problem

We have a user (VP of IT) who has intermittent issues when printing an email. He reads his email via the preview pane. When he clicks on print to print the email, the hour glass comes up and stays there until he clicks on another email, then the print dialog box will come up and he can continue printing. Any suggestions?

Subject: Reproduce…

Hi Karen,

I would check to see if this is reproducible in the following scenarios:

  1. If you open the user’s Mail File from another Workstation with the same Client Release installed, can you reproduce the issue?

  2. If you open another user’s Mail File from the user’s (VP of IT) Workstation, can you reproduce the issue?

  3. Does this occur with any message, or only certain ones?

3a) Possibly, does this only occur with mail received from external sources? Or vice versa, mail received internally?

  1. Verify that they are receiving the Notes Print Dialog Box, and not the OS Print Dialog box (i.e.: The Print Dialog box seen if you print from IE). I recall an issue that required the input of the notes.ini parameter “BrowserRenderPrintNotes=1” which lets Lotus Notes handle the print for internet mail.

NOTE: If you can find a reproducible scenario, you may want to open a PMR with the Notes Client Team. They will be able to perform various tests and can document the issue in a Software Problem Report (SPR) if the issue is found to be within the Code.

Subject: We had same problem.

We had the same problem with the 8.0.2 client. In Notes basic preferences - additional options, there is a setting to “Disable embedded browser for MIME mail” - I checked this “on” and havent seen the problem since. Im only working with Notes six months, your mileage may vary, but it did “fix” it for us.
