Printing Freezes Notes

I have a few people who when they print it locks up Notes. I close notes and kill the processes and then they can get back in and then it works. After about a day they have the same issue. I have tried to moved them to 8.5.1 and it still happens.

Has anyone else seen this or know how to fix it?

We uses Win Xp sp2, Notes 8.5 standardsome users have this problem often, and some never experience this at all

Subject: Are you using HP universal print drivers (UPD)?

By chance are you using HP’s universal print driver (UPD)? There’s a known issue there and HP has a fix slated for v5.1.1 of the UPD (still in beta). If you look at this HP link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=445194&swItem=ja-45285-13&prodNameId=445195&swEnvOID=2100&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=3 … for v5.0.1 fix list, you’ll see a mention of 3rd-party apps and a ‘Shared Memory’ issue. Not sure if that’s your problem but we get that error msg here (‘Shared Memory from a previous Notes/Domino run…’) The link makes you think that the fix is in v5.0.1, but our print guys say that HP now says v5.1.1 of the UPD. At times, you can get around the problem by terminating the hpmup091.bin process (that’s the v5.0.0 driver)… as it is keeping open handles on Notes files even after Notes is closed. We also have a separate issue where 8.0.2.x clients are crashing when printing - over 400 crashes in 5 months. The NSD sent to IBM was analyzed and they said it’s not Notes 8, it’s the drivers … http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21221854 … I believe this is related to discreet print drivers and how it interacts with Notes Standard, versus the UPD driver. We continue to work through the issues. Hope this is helpful and I’d be interested in your feedback.
