I’m having issue with printing selected documents from the view (form has embedded view); document entries in that embedded view are not printed, but the gray background applet with embedded view name. The Print Preview shows everything fine with documents entries in embedded view applet, just not no the printed hard copy.
I am wondering if it’s the Printer Setting issue (and what) or it’s just the Notes Embedded View issue (and how to work around), or I miss something here (and what)?
Does anyone have this problem, or solutions? Please share with me, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
We had the same problem in an application. As a solution, my collegue created a print form that looked like the original form, only where the embedded view was, he added a field where the embedded documents were added with RenderToRtItem (so this way the parent document and its embedded view-documents were printed in one piece).
I don’t know if this solutions is applicable to your situation?
I had a problem printing embedded views. I discovered somewhere (sorry I can’t remember the source) that “background printing” causes this. I disabled background printing and found that the embedded view then printed correctly. I have Notes client 6.5.2
Here’s what I did, it will only take you a minute to find out whether it solves your problem;
In the Notes client, go File - Preferences - User Preferences …
Go to the “Basics” tab
In the list under “Additional options”, look for “Process print requests as a background task” and make sure there is no tick next to it
I think this option is enabled by default, so by default you get the problem when you print an embedded view.
This is a pain if you have lots of users all complaining about the problem, because they must all change this setting.
I suppose it’s some kind of Notes “feature”. I don’t know whether later versions of the client behave differently.
Thank you very much. I love the embedded views and my users love it but they have to print out the form to have it signed. I am working on creating a table just for the printing because I love the embedded view in the form. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it!!
embedded view does not print. I had a great little application almost finished using an embedded view then tried printing the document and found that the embedded view just printed as a grey box. Don’t know any way around it.
