Print layout difference internal and external

Running notes 8.5.1 on Windows XP SP3

Some of our users are complaining about the printing layout of mails.

When they open an internal mail and print it → no problem. Layout looks exactly like the mail, with header and footer (HTML look).

When they open an external mail and print it → problem. Layout looks like plain text. Even in the print preview.

When they DONT open the mail, but go to their mailbox, select a mail, and right click on it and choose “Print”, then the mail comes out perfectly.

One minor remark, when an user who DOESN’T have the problem prints a mail with attachments then the attachments are placed in the header of the mail. When an user WITH the problem prints the mail, then the attachments are placed directly under the mail body.

Subject: Fix exist but…

It seems there were a fix for this problem at this url : http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/r5fixlist.nsf/8d1c0550e6242b69852570c900549a74/925d2850d5226740852576ab006ba028?OpenDocument.

But I try it and I have still the same problem.

Subject: The solution in my case

In your preferences windows you just have to select the option (in the middle of the list) : “Disable embedded browser for MIME mail”. I don’t know if it is the perfect translation but I have a french version.

I hope this will help.

Subject: Almost there!

indeed, when I select “Disable embedded browser for MIME mail” then the problem is solved!

But now I want to select this in a policy, else I’m going to be busy for a few weeks here

Problem is, I cant find the option in the Domino Admin :frowning:

Does anybody know where to find it?

Subject: Solved!!

Well, in the Domino Administrator there isn’t a setting for “Disable embedded browser for MIME mail”. But you can still work around to use this setting as an policy, by editing the Notes.ini file.

To get to the notes.ini on Domino Administrator :

People & groups, policy, find your office policy, Desktop settings, use the arrows on the right to go to “custom settings”, click 2 times in notes.ini and click “edit list”.

Item : BrowserRenderDisable

Value : 1

Please be careful here as it can be confusing. The option in User Preferences says ‘Disable embedded browser …’ So, if you set the above parameter to 1, that means you tick/select the option.

now after restarting the clients, the print layout looks normal!

Subject: please, any one?

any one?

its starting to get a bigger problem every day

Subject: Make sure the users mail file design has been updated to the latest template.

The way you describe where the attachments appear indicates the ones with the attachments at the bottom are using an older mail template.

Subject: Templete completely up to date

I checked the template and it is up to date…
