HelloI installed a Domino primary directory on a laptop and a Domino configuration directory on a second laptop. The database can replicate if I enter the command “replicate firtstserver/organisation names.nsf” from de cofiguration directory (second laptop), but i I run the same command from the primary directory, I got an error message stating that the host laptop is not know from TCP/IP. However I created two lmhost.sam files on both laptop with the corresponding HostName and IPaddress.
Can someone tell me what I missed to do on the primary diretory? Someone know what happened?
Many thank for your help
Subject: Primary directory
Hi Pierrot, for TCPIP to work you need to edit the hosts. file (the one with no extension). The sam files are SAMples and lmhosts a leftover from LanManager days.
Typically a ping should show if the hosts see each other (or better nping from the sandbox, so you can test the notes port directly).
You also could create connection documents where you state the IP addresses directly, then you don’t need to edit the hosts file.

Ok, but the lmhost file (without extension) should be placed in c:\windows ? this is right? and the only text I should write is:
hostname ip_address
hostname2 ip_address
and so on…
