I am having a problem where emails are not getting marked as read when opened in the preview pane when i’m in a folder.
I am using 8.0.2 eclipse client, and I have the admin client and designer installed.
I have the preference option set to mark emails read when opened in the preview pane.
It works fine uner the inbox, but does not work at all under any folder. This worked with 8.0 and 8.0.1.

Subject: Works inconsistently according to one of my users…F9 updates the view
A user who have “Mark documents read…” for preview has shown me that the view is not always updating to unread status, though it does update when you press F9 to refresh the view. Along with this, the unread count for the folder is not updated until you refresh.
Any suggestions?

Subject: Not a bug, but difficult to fix
I had the same issue. It was mostly because I couldn’t find User Preferences as I did in Notes 7. You should just need to go to:
File->Preferences
Select ‘Basic Notes Client Config’
then under Additional Options, make sure
‘Mark documents read when opened in preview pane’
is checked off.
After I did this, it worked fine with 8.0.2 on XP.

I have the same issue, even in my Inbox, not only the folders, either i read the msg, or just do a preview, the unread msg won’t go away, unless i do an action ( delete, send, Move to …) … maybe because i’m a raoming user ?
