Egads!!!
When trying to preview design changes in Netscape 4 (!?) I kept getting an error message saying the ActionBar applet could not be located. I thought an upgrade to Netscape 7 might be a worthwhile effort on my part. I uninstalled 4 and then installed 7. The preview icon in the designer client still indicates it’s associated with Netscape 4. When I either click the icon or choose the from the menu, I’m told the application can’t be located. I’ve reinstalled R6, which changes nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this mess?
It’s too early for me to go home.

my bet is that you installed Netscape 7 in a different directory than 4 was in… and the icon is still looking for 4. I’m also betting that there is a database that stores all the settings like bookmark.nsf, and domadmin.nsf - in fact… I’d try bookmark.nsf first… delete it and see if when it rebuilds, does it find the new version of Netscape and post the icon for it.

Thanks for your help. When I read your suggestion I too thought it seemed like a great idea. I deleted the bookmarks.nsf and restarted Notes without any change. I then Uninstalled R6 and reinstalled. Still no change. Since the Notes install is brand new, the client must look somewhere else to get the Netscape information.
Any other ideas?? Anyone??

Maureen Leland had this to say in an earlier post:“IE and netscape 3, 4, 5, and 6 should be automagically detected by the Designer. Opera and other browsers are not supported yet.”
Note that Netscape 7 isn’t mentioned.
A suggestion might be to go into Toolbar Preferences, select the Customise tab, choose the Preview toolbar and delete the Netscape Preview button. Close and restart Notes, then go in and add it again (if it hasn’t automatically done it for you.) There are toolbar buttons for NS3, 4 and 6…

Thanks for your help. The steps regarding adding the icon through the toolbar didn’t work. I ended up uninstalling Netscape - again, running regclean, downloading and installing Netscape 6.2. and finally ended up with a preview Icon for it that actually works. Somewhere along the lines I’ve ended up with a Netscape 3 preview icon - and it’s never been on this machine. I think I might just leave it there. If it wants to be there so badly - who am I to say otherwise?
Thanks again.
Issy.

I suspect that what’s happened is that the NS4 connection has messed up somewhere along the line, and your attempt to fix it by installing NS7 only failed because ND6 doesn’t recognise it. If you’d gone to NS6 instead then you may have had an easier time of it (no fault of yours there - it’s normal to go to the most recent release when upgrading…)
You can probably get rid of the NS3 icon in Toolbar Preferences, same as earlier. If not, I’d agree with you - just ignore it
