Preventing users from sending to OU

We have experienced an issue where a user will enter several names in the to: field then realize that they want to remove one of them. They delete the name only and leave the ou/o. This causes a message to be sent to the entire ou. Is there a way to prevent this? In my reading, I’ve found outhers who said that this should not be possible in the first place. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Subject: I am a little confused.

We do not show the name in Canonical format. for example

Do you mean deleting Robert Ransdell/Westford/IBM@Iris, to become IBM@IRIS and pressing SEND?

If so I would check to see if there is a server group name called IBM on server iris

Subject: Clarification

Robert, it would be more like having the address Robert Ransdell/Westford/IBM in the address field and then deleting the name leaving only /Westford/IBM. This appears to send the message to the entire OU of Westford/IBM.

Subject: wow

I havent seen this. Maybe its a bug? Does it happen with all the users?

What happens if you create a dummy OU and several users in it, can you still send a message to /dummy/IBM and the messages arrive?

Subject: try MKESL

this should be done in the wks side since once it went to the server there are problems. You can modify the DB design, or you can implement a third party product like MKESL (www.zipmail.com).
