Preventing user from sending out the mail

Hi,

How do you prevent only a particular user from sending out a mail.

Thanks

In the Configuration Document go to “Router / SMTP” - “Restrictions and Controls” - “SMTP Outbound Controls” and in the “Deny messages from the following Notes addresses to be sent to the Internet:” section put a group containing any Notes users you don’t want to allow sending SMTP emails.

Hi Chris,

Does it prevent from sending mails using SMTP only or does it prevent from sending mails using all the protocols?

Thanks

The help for that section says “the sender may not send messages outside the local internet domain” so I assume it means it will only allow them to send mail to the local Domino/Notes domain only.

We use it to stop certain users sending Internet mail. They can only send Notes mail.

Hi,

Then what is the way of preventing people from sending notes mail also?

Literally they should not be able to send out any type of mail.

Thanks,

Suraj.

The easiest way would be to set up a Rule in the server configuration document to either hold or silently delete their emails. That way you can check each email before releasing it if you’re trying to monitor this person.

Or just lock out the ID for this person so they can’t use Notes…
