Preventing Database icons from appearing on workspace

When you open a database via the bookmark pane, is there a way to stop the icon from poping up on the workspace?

do you mean that an icon is added to workspace?

or that the icon gets the focus (and workspacepage is changed)?

An icon gets added to the workspace. We have about 200 users that use a database (one for each of them) that was created for us. Whenever I have to go into one it adds the icon to the workspace (even when I use the bookmarks quicklaunch) and the workspace fills up quickly.
