Prevent "Sent by: " appearing in mail message

We have a mail-in database from which a team of users have to send messages. The recipients of these messages should not know which user has sent the message.

If a user, who sends a message (for example John), is not the mailfile owner, Notes puts a text in the mail message saying “Sent by: John”.

We are able to change the return address (by changing the From field in the template, but we cannot get rid of the text “Sent by: John”.

Does anybody know how to prevent this text from appearing in the mail message ?

Your help is very much appreciated.

This is Notes working as intended: basic functionality to avoid spoofed “from” fields and the like. The easiest way to address this is for everyone to switch to a generic Notes ID, perhaps one that has the same name as your mail-in file.

There are other things you can do, but this is the most straight-forward.

You could edit the Memo and Reply forms so that “Sent by…” is hidden/not present. This is good only for Notes recipients. As benpoole points out, the from field cannot be altered, so the recipient can always spot the sender by looking into the field list.
