Hi there,
Sorry for posting what is probably an easy question, but I’m more of a developer than an admin…
I have a Domino test environment which consists of a single domain with a 6.5.4 administration server, and several more servers of all different versions and languages back to 5.X. One of the most important things about the environment is that every server’s mail template files remain unaltered, as they all will have their own customization. What can I do to be sure that the mail templates do not replicate between the servers in my domain, or does this not happen by default? I want to find out before I start modifying templates.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

If you were going to leave the mail templates unaltered, then I’d give a different response, but since you’re going to be customizing the templates, the answer is easy. Don’t customize the templates. Never customize standard templates. Customize copies of them instead, which will all obviously have different Replica IDs and won’t replicate. Be sure to give them different filenames and template names as well. Most importantly, your changes won’t be overwritten by the next server upgrade with the standard templates again.

I completely agree, and I’ve made my opinion known, however the third party product the test environment is designed for must have the mail template file modified until they figure out a different way to do things. I’m just a contractor hired to setup the environment…

for the template on each serverchoose from file menu:
replication → settings → other
and select
temporarily disable replication
an other way is to set the ACL entry for LocalDomainServers to “No Access”
